This role is a senior leadership position focused on shaping and optimizing workplace environments through strategic space and occupancy planning across a client portfolio. You will act as both a strategic advisor and hands-on leader, ensuring that real estate assets are aligned with organizational goals, operational efficiency, and employee experience. Working in a dynamic, client-facing environment, you will lead scenario planning, utilization analysis, and data-driven decision-making to maximize space efficiency. The position requires close collaboration with stakeholders across real estate, project management, and design disciplines to deliver integrated workplace solutions. You will also oversee a team of planners, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and high-quality delivery across all occupancy planning activities. This is a highly impactful role offering the opportunity to directly influence how physical spaces support business performance and workplace transformation.

Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for leading space and occupancy planning strategy and execution across client accounts, ensuring optimal use of real estate portfolios and alignment with business objectives. You will oversee planning teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and drive data-informed workplace solutions.

  • Develop and implement space and occupancy planning standards, policies, and reporting frameworks
  • Oversee portfolio-wide occupancy planning services, ensuring consistency, quality control, and operational efficiency
  • Lead scenario planning, utilization analysis, and space optimization initiatives across multiple markets
  • Manage and develop a team of space planners, providing coaching, direction, and performance oversight
  • Facilitate client and stakeholder meetings, including reporting, presentations, and project updates
  • Create and evaluate workplace scenarios based on growth, reorganization, and operational needs
  • Ensure accuracy and governance of space data within IWMS systems and related databases
  • Partner with project management and design teams on test fits, architectural reviews, and implementation planning
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and optimization strategies through ongoing reporting and analysis
Requirements:

This role requires strong expertise in space planning, workplace strategy, architecture, or corporate real estate, combined with proven leadership experience and strong analytical capabilities. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with experience in client-facing environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Workplace Strategy, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in space utilization, occupancy planning, workplace design, or related disciplines
  • Proven experience leading teams in a professional services or corporate real estate environment
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or similar design/drafting tools
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams) and IWMS platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience interpreting complex data sets
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in a matrix or client-based environment
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawings, space standards, and workplace design principles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Change management experience is a plus, particularly in workplace transformation initiatives
