Position Summary: The Director of Retention and Attendance Supports leads and isaccountable for the implementation and performance of district initiatives designed to improvestudent attendance, engagement, and retention outcomes. This role leads the coordination andexecution of attendance and retention systems and ensures consistent, effective implementation
across Tulsa Public Schools.Working in partnership with internal departments and school leaders, this position supports
district efforts related to enrollment stability, family engagement, and student experience. TheDirector provides recommendations, performance data, and key insights to leadership tosupport informed decision-making and continuous improvement. This role is responsible fordriving measurable outcomes in attendance and retention, while supporting alignment withrelated recruitment and family engagement efforts through cross-functional coordination anddata-informed practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree required
Masters degree preferred
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in education, student services, programmanagement, communications, or a related field
Experience leading or managing initiatives related to student engagement, attendance,retention, or recruitment preferred
Experience working in a large, urban school district preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Oklahoma drivers license required
Valid Oklahoma teaching or administrative certificate preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of student attendance, engagement, retention, andenrollment-related practices
Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with school-based staff
Ability to influence and support stakeholders without direct authority
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong organizational and time management skills
Knowledge of evidence-based practices for improving student attendance andengagement
Proficiency with data systems and reporting tools used in K12 settings
Ability to lead cross-functional projects and coordinate diverse teams
