About This Position
Position Title: Ultrasound Technologist
Position Summary: The Ultrasound Technologist (UT) will perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program required.
Experience
- Previous Sonography experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-S) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
- Assist physicians with biopsy procedures.
- Guide biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques.
- Perform procedures including but not limited to ultrasound procedures, color doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, and Ob-Gyn procedures as required.
- Utilize accessory equipment such as transducers, printers, and PACS workstations.
- Prepare patients for procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients.
- Report changes in patient condition to medical staff.
- Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist.
- Evaluate the quality of sonograms and determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated.
- Assist in training of Ultrasound students during clinical rotations.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with imaging colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
- Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
- Consistently display effective verbal communication skills.
- Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
- Regularly exercise independent judgment.
