Impact of the Role

General Profile

• Supervises the daily activities of support staff or production team members. Does not typically perform the work supervised
• Must have any type of one direct report or more
• Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors
• Problem solving is guided by policies and procedures; receives guidance and oversight from manager
• Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment

Essential Functions

• Oversees skilled trade workers who produce and repair precision metal parts and tools for use in manufacturing.
• Supervises repair & maintenance machine shop operations and inspects finished parts and tools against specified tolerances.
• Reviews work orders and scheduling resources.
• Monitors machine shop tools/equipment and adjusts setups, calibrations, and alignments where required.
• Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.

Required Qualifications

• Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
• Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Leadership skills. Mathematical skills. Technical expertise. Leadership skills. Attention to detail. Equipment Maintenance. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Machine Operation. Machine Programming, Manufacturing. Machining Milling. Numerical Control. Precision Machining. Precision Measurement. Reading Blueprints/Diagrams. Safety Policies and Procedures. Mechanical Maintenance.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.
