Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Compliance
- Oversee and maintain compliance with aerospace standards including AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP (as applicable), and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits; ensure timely corrective actions and root-cause analysis.
- Manage the Quality Management System (QMS), including documentation, process control, and continuous improvements.
Product Quality & Inspection
- Oversee inspection activities: first article inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections per standards (e.g., AS9102).
- Ensure calibration, measurement systems, and inspection tools meet industry and company standards.
- Investigate nonconforming material, identifying root causes and implementing corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Supplier Quality
- Develop and manage supplier qualification and quality programs — including audits, performance monitoring, and corrective actions.
- Work closely with purchasing and engineering to ensure suppliers meet aerospace quality and delivery requirements.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop quality inspectors, engineers, and technicians; build a culture of quality.
- Establish quality goals, metrics/KPIs (e.g., scrap rate, rework rates, defect rates) to support organizational objectives.
Continuous Improvement
- Champion operational excellence initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, defect-reduction, process optimization).
- Implement and monitor quality improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework, and “cost of poor quality.”
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7+ years of quality experience in aerospace manufacturing or machining — with 3+ years in supervisory or management capacity.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 standards and aerospace regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA systems, PPAP/FAI, SPC, MSA, control plans, FMEA.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Certifications such as ASQ CQE or CQM/OE are a plus.
