About This Position

Description:
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions in a knowledgeable manner regarding Cumberland’s programs and volunteer needs.
  • Recruit, train, and steward all volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Development Director to identify program volunteer needs and assess program volunteer activities.
  • Screen, qualify, and match volunteers and groups, maintaining all required records and background checks.
  • Target, develop, and cultivate sources of volunteers who will provide candidates with a range of skills and abilities, and opportunities to engage with Cumberland's mission.
  • Serve as the primary organization point of contact for volunteer engagement and opportunities.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Cumberland by participating in community events that promote engagement in the organization’s mission.
  • Schedule volunteer orientations and training and maintain listings of volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintain volunteer job descriptions, website, and volunteer records.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with various teams within the organization to align volunteer efforts with overall organizational needs, events, and initiatives.
  • May function as a volunteer supervisor during scheduled events.
  • All other duties assigned by management
Requirements:
  • Degree in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Communications, or experience in a related field.
  • Proven experience in nonprofit volunteer management, demonstrating relationship development, stewardship, and outreach success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights and/or weekends.
  • Outgoing and engaging personality with confidence to interact face-to-face with individual volunteers and volunteer groups.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare written reports on volunteer activities to track and assess progress toward goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment to offer one-time or ongoing volunteer opportunities for individuals and/or groups.
  • Passion for the organization's mission and commitment to making a positive impact through volunteer engagement.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and volunteer management database platforms such as Volgistics and eTapestry.
