Description:

Director of Finance

Job Summary:

The Director of Finance plans and coordinates business activities for Sertoma Center and is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of all financial information. This role supervises all accounting and business office staff including a receptionist. The Director of Finance assists the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in presenting financial information to banks, contributors, and funding sources. Additional responsibilities include developing and pursuing positive business ventures, facilitating mergers and acquisitions, creating strategies for internal growth, and effectively managing the revenues and expenses of the corporation. This position requires full ownership and effective utilization of Sage Intacct as the organization’s financial software platform.

Relationships:

· Reports to CEO/Executive Director

· Supervises Business Office and Accounting Staff

· Maintains professional relationships with auditors, bankers, parents/guardians, accounting and administrative staff, and the Board of Directors

Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

· Utilize Sage Intacct for all financial operations, including general ledger management, reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and budgeting

· Prepare monthly bank reconciliations on all Sertoma accounts and maintain checkbook balances

· Prepare monthly financial statements, including full General Ledger trial balance; present at bi-monthly board meetings in the absence of the Board Treasurer

· Assist the Board Treasurer in the presentation of financial information

· Review W-2s, 1099s, and quarterly payroll returns; ensure alignment with corresponding General Ledger accounts and payroll summaries

· Prepare ad hoc financial data reports as needed

· Assist in the submission of grant reporting to ensure compliance with required expenditures

· Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable for timely payments and accuracy

· Review the application of client bank funds to corresponding accounts receivable balances monthly to satisfy charges for room and board and other client expenses

Compliance & Oversight:

· Maintain information on corporate insurance (commercial package and worker’s compensation) and all funding contracts

· Coordinate with HUD representatives to ensure compliance with HUD guidelines and proper use of restricted bank accounts

· Ensure proper internal controls and division of responsibilities within the Business Office

Leadership & Administration:

· Supervise Business Office staff and administrative support personnel

· Complete performance appraisals in a timely and efficient manner

· Serve as staff on the Budget and Finance Committee along with the CEO

· Coordinate with the Treasurer to schedule committee meetings, prepare agendas, and gather materials for presentation

· Plan, prepare, and provide recommendations regarding the Center’s budget

· Assist the CEO in disseminating information to Board members prior to scheduled meetings

· Represent the Center externally in professional clubs and societies as needed

Organizational Contribution

· Recognize efforts as part of a team function shared by all supervisory and administrative staff

· Contribute to organizational improvement by identifying new concepts or processes that enhance individual or collective performance

· Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion in handling financial records

· Perform all work assignments with minimal supervision from the CEO

· Perform any other duties as assigned by the CEO

Requirements:

Qualifications

· Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business administration or economics

· At least 7-10 years of accounting experience required

· Experience with Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based financial management systems preferred

· Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis/reporting)

· Experience with accounting/business process automation (workflow optimization, integrations, and system improvements)

· Valid TN driver’s license and a good driving record

· Strong self-discipline and managerial skills

· Strong spirit of teamwork and cooperation
