JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of incoming components, in-process products, and finished goods. This role supports Rampart’s commitment to producing high-quality medical equipment by verifying that all materials and products meet required specifications, tolerances, and regulatory standards.
This position works closely with the Quality Assurance and Production teams to identify quality concerns, maintain calibration systems, support inspection processes, and ensure compliance with Rampart’s quality management system and applicable regulatory requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Consistently model the core values of the company both internally and externally and support company processes and systems.
- Ensure compliance with Rampart’s Quality Management System and applicable regulatory standards including ISO and GMP requirements.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform quality inspections throughout the receiving, in-process, and final production stages.
- Inspect incoming components and materials to ensure they meet specifications and required tolerances.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to verify critical dimensions.
- Verify that inspected products are in acceptable condition and meet required specifications.
- Ensure products are properly packaged and stored prior to shipment to customers.
- Maintain inspection documentation and record results of quality checks.
- Track inspection data and identify trends, reporting findings to the Quality Assurance and Production teams.
- Assist in identifying and resolving quality concerns and communicate issues promptly to QA and production teams.
- Support development and improvement of quality processes within the production environment.
- Follow and assist in creating detailed work instructions for inspection activities.
- Perform quality control on incoming products and conduct inspection duties on outgoing products as needed.
- Assist with documentation related to inspections and other quality activities as assigned by management.
- Support and maintain calibration tracking and enforcement for inspection and measurement equipment.
- Assist in developing and improving calibration tracking systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities related to product quality and manufacturing processes.
- Review Bills of Material (BOM) as required to support inspection and quality verification processes.
- Support First Article Inspection activities when required.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Support Rampart’s commitment to workplace safety by ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Responsibilities include:
- Follow established health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn in designated areas.
- Report near misses, hazards, and incidents promptly.
- Support QA and production teams in maintaining safe work practices.
KEY METRICS
- First Inspection pass rate (%): Number of units that meet inspection requirements on the first pass compared to rejects at the final pass.
- Daily/weekly output rate: Number of components received and inspected per week.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality inspection or quality assurance.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 quality systems.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Experience performing First Article Inspections.
- Experience reviewing Bills of Material (BOM).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with quality inspection documentation and reporting processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Off-Site Training / Certifications (Preferred)
- ASQ Certification (e.g., Certified Quality Inspector or similar)
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Regularly required sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. - Body Movements:
Full range of body movements including use of hands and fingers to handle inspection tools and components. Bending, reaching, lifting, and crouching may be required. - Vision:
Ability to read detailed specifications, view computer screens, and inspect small components.

- Analytical-Ability to review specifications, measurements, and inspection results to determine product compliance.
- Problem Solving-Ability to identify quality issues, investigate root causes, and communicate findings to appropriate teams.
- Relational-Ability to collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams.
- Communication Skills-Ability to communicate inspection findings clearly and document quality results accurately.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work may include extended periods viewing a computer monitor and performing inspections at workstations or production areas. The role may require standing, walking, bending, and lifting materials or equipment within a manufacturing environment.
