Job Title: Respiratory Care Equipment Technician
Status: Part Time

Department: Respiratory Care

Location: Rochester General Hospital

Hours Per Week: 24

Schedule: Days, 8-hr.shift, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 4-weekend shifts per 8-week block

Position Summary:
Sets up, monitors, and maintains all routine respiratory care equipment throughout the hospital. This includes documenting all appropriate procedures and performing repair and preventive maintenance on all related equipment used across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Document all appropriate procedures, repairs, and preventative maintenance of all related equipment used on all age groups.
• Perform minor routine repairs and preventative maintenance on respiratory equipment according to department policies and procedures on a daily basis.
• Perform daily equipment processing of all respiratory equipment: Disassemble, process, assemble, and test all respiratory care equipment on a daily basis according to department policies and procedures.
• Assist in performing an inventory of department equipment and supplies.
o Count supplies with 100% accuracy on a daily basis.
o Provide and maintain an adequate inventory of all medical gas cylinders in department storage areas and on all patient care areas on a daily basis.
• Identify and retrieve all electrical equipment due for calibration and regular preventative maintenance, and deliver to the Bio Medical Engineering department on a scheduled basis.
• Assist in the program of battery replacement and calibration of all battery-powered equipment: Replace batteries as necessary.
• Provide assistance to respiratory care team members. Respond to requests from therapists as necessary, according to department policies and procedures.
• Maintain respiratory care equipment and supplies within Respiratory Care and on designated patient care units. Par stock respiratory care supplies per department policies and procedures.
• Assist in maintaining a clean work area in the department: Assure that all supplies are neatly stored and that the work area is cleared of hazards 100% of the time.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
• None

• Position also requires accuracy in checking, posting, counting, performing technical procedures, and interpretation of instrumentation.

Preferred Qualifications:
• One year of previous work experience or educational training in a health care setting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $17.60 - $18.60

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
