Director of Continuous Improvement

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Continuous Improvement in the United States.

This leadership role is responsible for driving enterprise-wide Lean and Continuous Improvement transformation across a global manufacturing organization. You will shape operational excellence strategy, strengthen the Leggett Operating System, and coach leaders at all levels to embed sustainable Lean practices into daily operations. The role combines hands-on Gemba-based coaching with high-level strategic transformation work, impacting productivity, growth, and margin improvement. You will partner closely with cross-functional leaders across manufacturing sites to design future-state value streams and eliminate waste at scale. This is a highly visible position where you will influence culture, capability building, and long-term operational performance. Accountabilities

This role focuses on leading Lean transformation strategy and embedding continuous improvement practices across the organization:

  • Drive enterprise Lean transformation initiatives, strengthening operational excellence systems and daily management discipline across multiple sites.
  • Coach and develop leaders and teams in Lean thinking, problem-solving, and change management to build sustainable CI capability.
  • Lead Gemba walks, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen events to identify inefficiencies and implement improved future-state processes.
  • Develop and execute transformation roadmaps using Lean tools such as A3, RIEs, Kanban, 5S, and standardized work systems.
  • Partner with business leaders to improve performance metrics including productivity, capacity, quality, and margin.
  • Support CI governance, KPI tracking, and standard work adherence to ensure long-term sustainment of improvements.
  • Contribute to new product introductions and support safety and operational excellence initiatives across functions.
Requirements

This role requires deep Lean expertise combined with strong leadership and coaching capabilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, with 10+ years in Lean manufacturing or Continuous Improvement leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of leading enterprise or multi-site Lean transformations in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong expertise in Lean methodologies including VSM, Kaizen, A3 problem-solving, Daily Management, and flow optimization.
  • Experience coaching senior leaders and frontline teams to build a continuous improvement culture.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to drive change in complex, evolving environments with varying levels of Lean maturity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
  • Advanced Lean certifications or experience in large-scale transformation environments is a strong plus.
