Schedule: Day/Evening

SUMMARY:

As a Registered Nurse – Educator, your in-depth knowledge and outstanding communication skills are key in fostering quality care, enhanced wellness and ongoing growth and development throughout Rochester Regional.

The General Surgical Unit (2800) cares for pre and post-surgical patients including general, colorectal, plastics and breast, bariatrics, urology, ENT and neurosurgery. This fast-paced unit is a great fit for experienced and new RNs who enjoy multidisciplinary teamwork and rewarding patient interactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluation. Identify and validate the learning needs of customers by utilizing needs assessments, CQI results, performance improvement results, customer surveys and course evaluation results; document the effectiveness of educational offerings by developing, monitoring and assessing competencies; analyze cost to maximize the efficient utilization of resources

  • Development. Create educational programs and curriculum that promote quality healthcare, employee/patient growth and personal wellness; provide leadership in areas of expertise as a resource to the customer; develop communications and audio-visual materials that are clear and concise

  • Implementation. Facilitate programs to meet the identified learning needs of our customers; provide in-depth orientation, in-service and continuing education for staff or patients

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be currently registered and licensed by NYS as a registered professional nurse.

  • For Diabetes Education - Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or achievement of CDE status within two years of the start date in the position.

  • For Wound Care - National Certification from Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) or Wound Care Certification (WCC) from NAWCO required

  • Bachelor’s degree required in nursing, health education, or instructional development or an equivalent combination of education and healthcare related work experience will be considered.

  • Minimum of 1 year prior training/teaching experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years prior training/teaching experience in related educational field.

EDUCATION:

  • BS: Nursing (Required)
  • BS: Health Education

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PAY RANGE: $82,742.40 - $113,568.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
