Position Title: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Department: Clinical Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Clinic Manager

Job Summary:

The Emergency Medical Technician at EngageMED plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a clinical setting. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive patient assessments, supporting providers with urgent and routine care, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring clinic readiness through equipment and supply management. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, professionalism, adaptability, and excellent communication skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough initial patient assessments for individuals presenting with urgent or emergent medical conditions.
• Obtain and document vital signs, patient histories, and presenting symptoms accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct focused physical examinations within scope of practice and assist providers with diagnostic and treatment procedures.
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and escalate concerns appropriately to clinical leadership or providers.
• Provide patient education and clear instructions related to care plans, follow-up, and treatment expectations.

Clinical Support

• Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff with procedures and patient flow.
• Administer treatments and interventions as permitted by licensure, clinic protocols, and physician orders.
• Respond effectively to medical emergencies within the clinic setting, following established procedures and maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain detailed, timely, and accurate patient documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Ensure compliance with EngageMED policies, clinical protocols, HIPAA regulations, and applicable state and federal healthcare standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to best practices.

Equipment & Clinic Readiness

• Check, maintain, and restock medical equipment and supplies to ensure clinic readiness at all times.
• Identify equipment malfunctions or supply shortages and report issues promptly.
• Assist with infection control practices and ensure a clean, safe clinical environment.

Communication & Team Collaboration

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with patients, families, and team members.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
• Exhibit flexibility and adaptability in response to changing clinic needs, workflows, and patient volumes.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

· Ability to follow established procedures in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations

· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

· Proficiency with electronic medical records and patient database systems

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Ability to adapt to evolving clinical environments and patient needs

Education and Experience:

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required

· EMT Certification - required

· Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) – preferred, if applicable

· Completion of an accredited EMT program

· Ongoing continuing education as required by licensure and EngageMED standards

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods

· Ability to lift, push, or pull patients and equipment as required

· Ability to work flexible schedules, including extended hours or weekends as needed
