Richmond,VA - Field Mapping/CAD Technician

Position Overview:

The Field Engineerprovides oversight and project support by monitoring and reporting production, quality, schedule, financial performance, and customer contract compliance standards, including traceability and as-built drawings.

Selected candidate will be provided with a company vehicle and gas card to perform the duties of this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in pre-bid and pre-construction process; attend customer and internal meetings; provide pre-con support as required
  • Ensure customer contract compliance, including collecting traceability information and preparing as-builds
  • Review field daily reports for accuracy and update all tracking sheets
  • Monitor project production, cost, schedule and overall financial performance
  • Monitor and resolve customer billing issues
  • Assist with scheduling of internal crews and subcontractors
  • Assist with material procurement; review and monitor project material accountability
  • Balance jobs at completion ensuring accurate final billing, materials accountability, and any other contract requirements

Qualifications:

  • Highschool diploma or technical school training in drafting, or project management.
  • Project Management Certification is a plus
  • Two years of construction experience, preferable in the natural gas industry.
  • Ability to read and understand utility construction drawings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of successful project management practices.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively in written form, e-mail, or in person with all levels of the company.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Possess moderate MS Excel and MS Word skills.
  • Manages own workload effectively and efficiently; sets priorities, shifts priorities and adapts to rapid changes in priorities.
  • Able to support a dynamic project environment with time-driven deadlines.
  • Must be detailed orientated and be able to multi-task accurately meeting deadlines.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Successful candidates must be willing to undergo a drug screening and background check.
