SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT PHARMACY

Position Highlights:

  • The Solution Architect- Pharmacy will play a pivotal role in the Cancer Center's IT department by designing, building, and optimizing the pharmacy-related components of our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • This position involves ensuring seamless integration and functionality of medication processes within the EHR, upstream and downstream systems, providing technical expertise, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the overall medication management system.
  • This position drives innovation and efficiency in the medication processes, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and architecture of pharmacy components within the EHR system
  • Develop and implement strategies for system optimization and integration
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards
  • Conceive, design, optimize, and integrate IT-based solutions to complex business problems
  • Develop and implement pharmacy automation solutions that integrate seamlessly with the EHR
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex EHR pharmacy issues
  • Work closely with IT support teams to resolve technical problems promptly
  • Implement preventive measures to minimize system downtimes
  • Collaborate with clinical staff, pharmacists, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback
  • Serve as a liaison between the IT department and pharmacy teams
  • Facilitate effective communication and project alignment across departments
  • Build and leverage relationships with key technology partners and vendors
  • Guide portfolios in capability roadmap definitions related to infrastructure impacts and dependencies
  • Identify opportunities for innovation in medication management processes
  • Lead projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of pharmacy systems
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in healthcare IT
  • Oversee solution development by facilitating in-depth technical discussions with subject matter experts for complex problems
  • Mentor pharmacy analysts by providing feedback via coaching related skills and techniques
  • Assist with program or organizational level work effort demand analysis by providing systematic effort and duration estimations for incoming projects
  • Represent the liaison between infrastructure technology domains and the information and application layers
  • Act as the conceptual source for solutions involving more than one area of specialization and/or innovative system design
  • Collaborate with customers to analyze and translate business requirements and vendor-provided system specifications into a cohesive design
  • Conduct and review detailed technical design with technology subject-matter experts, transition design to solution engineers, and assist with implementation plan construction
  • Stay aware and informed about scope and requirement changes to the designed solutions, ensuring documentation is updated in alignment with the changes

Credentials and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree: field of study - Computer Science, Information Technology, Pharmacy, or a related field
  • 8 years of experience in IT roles related to Electronic Health Records and medication process systems

Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required

  • In-depth knowledge of EHR systems and their pharmacy modules
  • Strong understanding of medication management processes in a clinical environment
  • Proficiency in HL7, CCL (Cerner Command Line) programming, SQL, XML, HTML, and Linux
  • Knowledge of database structures, architecture standards, frameworks, and practices
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex IT solutions in healthcare
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot intricate system issues
  • Experience with designing and integrating Automated Dispensing Systems, IV Workflow Systems, and Medication Tracking Systems across the enterprise
  • Familiarity with Investigational Drug Services processes and Medication Therapy Management
  • Expertise in Pharmacy Billing and reimbursement processes
