Charter School Controller at NAVIGATOR SCHOOLS – Hollister, California

The Controller is a valuable part of the finance and leadership team and will oversee all accounting functions for the Support Office (central office), four schools, a support corporation, and an LLC at our sites within Hollister, Gilroy, Watsonville, and Hayward, California communities. The Controller will work alongside leaders at Navigator to develop and implement fiscal policies, procedures, and systems that ensure the accurate accounting of financial activity. In addition, oversee a team of accounting and payroll staff who carry out day-to-day bookkeeping activities (A/P, A/R, payroll, etc.). The Controller will also be responsible for ensuring that financial reports are created and distributed to leadership teams and external constituents (government agencies, funders, etc.) on an accurate and timely basis throughout the school fiscal year. this role will be a part of Navigator's multi-year growth plan, which will increase enrollment by 600% over 10 years. The Controller will play a key role in the implementation of our growth model.

Qualifications

? Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or a closely related field

? Minimum of 5 years as a Controller or Director of Finance in the public or charter school sector required

? Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting financial analysis experience in the non-profit school sector required

? Experience working with enterprise accounting software systems required

? Expert knowledge of generally acceptable accounting principles (GAPP) required

? Expert knowledge of fund accounting procedures

? Experience working with Sage Intacct, Paylocity, and Instruments

? Knowledge of legal provisions governing charter schools and non-profit financial transactions is strongly preferred

? Ability to recruit, supervise, develop, and motivate a team

? Strong aptitude for MS Excel/Google Sheets and the ability to work in a highly data-driven accounting environment

? Strong customer-service orientation and understanding of the support needs of a school environment
