About This Position
Assist the executive housekeeper in supervision of housekeeping and laundry operations to ensure product quality standards are met and that optimum service is provided to hotel guests according to hotel, brand and/or company business objectives. - Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans. Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on increased productivity and decreased turnover.
- Maintain proper inventory levels, managing cost per room for supplies and labor (i.e. bed & bath linen reuse and laundry operation).
- Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for employees.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve associate performance and morale.
- Educate and train all employees in compliance with brand, governmental and safety regulations. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other department heads.
- May assist with deep cleaning projects and/or assist with housekeeping staff during high-volume periods.
- Inspect all assigned rooms and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest room supplies, equipment, linens and public areas are clean and in good repair to meet guest satisfaction.
- Advise associates of deficiencies and instruct on corrective action. Provide adequate retraining as needed.
- Routinely perform all housekeeping duties necessary, including making beds as well as vacuuming and cleaning guest rooms to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Respond to guest complaints and special requests, ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
- Comply with special needs and requests of the guests.
- Stay 100% current with brand standards and ensure each guest room meets or exceeds all brand standards.
- Maintain and order supplies and equipment in a timely and efficient manner while minimizing waste and maintaining “green” initiatives (i.e. energy conservation).
- Follow procedures for security of lost and found items.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and endure various physical movements throughout the day.
- Able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
- Able to think clearly, remain calm and solve problems under pressure using good judgement.
- Able to manage by example, teach and be responsible for the actions of others.
- Attend monthly department meetings and training sessions as necessary.
- Anything that contributes to a positive culture and the success of the hotel.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- One to two years previous experience in a similar position including some supervisory training or experience.
- Basic computer skills required.
- PMS experience preferred (Opera, Visual Matrix, OnQ, etc.).
- Second languages preferred.
