Divisional Controller

SSA Marine is seeking a Divisional Controller to join our Finance team. This full-time, permanent position is based at our office in North Vancouver and reports to the Group Controller.

The Position

The Divisional Controller oversees the financial administration, reporting, and control systems for their respective business units (BUs). This role involves providing strategic financial support, detailed analysis, and expert guidance on financial matters to BU leaders. Key responsibilities include collaborating with BU leaders to prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

As a vital liaison between the Finance department and the BUs, the Divisional Controller facilitates operational excellence by effectively planning, communicating, and executing Finance and company-wide initiatives. This role ensures alignment between financial objectives and organizational goals while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with senior BU leads.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including Expected Final Results (EFR) and KPIs, for BU leads and senior management.
  • Oversee financial compliance and ensure adherence to US GAAP accounting policies and controls.
  • Manage a team of ~4 direct reports, providing leadership, talent development, and performance management.
  • Support year-end audits and respond to audit-related requests.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects and stay informed on audit, tax, and legal developments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA designation required.
  • 10+ years of finance or accounting experience, including management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and multi-site operations experience (preferred).
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
