Job Summary
- The Nursing Shift Director is responsible for coordinating the nursing staff and recognizing and assisting in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems. The position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in solving nursing problems within established policies and practices. Responsible for assisting the Department Director in developing the data collection and analysis for the department and performance improvement projects. Develop and coordinating educational plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation in response to changes in nursing practice by developing programs to support those changes. Teaches content as needed within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and safe practice. Facilitates teambuilding and leadership development for Nursing areas. Working closely with Hospital Administration and Medical Staff serving as an educational consultant to committees and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development. This person must have a thorough and complete understanding of the policies and procedures of Mary Rutan. This position has supervisory responsibility for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, techs, receptionists and related Nursing personnel.

Regulatory Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN degree preferred.
- Current State Nursing Licensure in the state of Ohio.
- Current ACLS certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Current NRP certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Current PALS certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum of three years experience in nursing.

- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Excellent computer knowledge.
- Ability to operate office equipment.
