Job Description
Assist the pharmacist in all duties related to preparing, gathering, labeling, and distributing medications. Maintains working area in clean and orderly condition. Inspect drug storage areas, maintain inventory, manage medication supply, and provide technical support services to pharmacists. Prepare inpatient/outpatient prescriptions and/or orders; measure and fill patients' medications; prepare labels; check medication rooms on units; check emergency boxes/code carts to verify locks are intact; check for outdated drugs in accordance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.; complete billing forms (non-patient sales invoices) or other necessary forms to collect payments. May deliver medications or run other errands/tasks as the pharmacist assigns. Responsible for filling and updating unit-dose cart fill and IV batches. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills of pharmacy operations necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the situation at hand and interpret the information needed to identify the resolution required or to know when to defer to the pharmacist for professional judgment, Maintain knowledge of and apply department's policies and procedures. Troubleshoot issues with automated dispensing cabinets to reach a final resolution. Handles pharmaceutical purchasing when on shift. Orients new employees to pharmacy operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Accepts personal ownership of remaining current with changes in department processes.
- Communicates with team members and department leadership.
- Follows standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required.
- Utilizes department practices consistently under USP 795, USP797, and USP 800.
- Accurately acquires and prepares the appropriate pharmaceutical for cart fill, IV admixture, and other dispensing activities.
- Assumes ownership of Automated Dispensing System maintenance, fill, and troubleshooting
- Consistently follows verbal and written instructions to yield the desired outcomes of pharmacists and leadership.
- Orients new employees and communicates with pharmacy leadership regarding the progress of new employee.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required; courses in science and math helpful.
Work Experience:
Preferred but not required.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Registration with the Mississippi State of Board of Pharmacy.
- Current or Pending Pharmacy Technician registration with the MS State Board of Pharmacy

precisely. Ability to accurately calculate doses and flow rates for various medications. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload. Ability to set priorities and solve problems. Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Possess diplomacy as an aid to working with all personnel, patients, families, and leadership within the facility. Show initiative, dependability, and "sincere interest" in being a capable, cooperative, and understanding healthcare member. Ability to have an attention for detail for extended periods of time. Ability to read, write, and interpret data.
