Cytology/Histology Prep Technician in Rockford, Illinois at Swedish American

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists Histologists, Cytotechnologists and Pathologists within the Pathology lab. Prepares specimens for evaluation by Cytotechnologists and Pathologists. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Associate Degree in biological sciences preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

N/A

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Knowledge of current medical terminology. Ability to type 40wpm. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with medical staff, patients and staff. Strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently under time constraints. Successful completion of annual job-specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
