About This Position

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Senior Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating maintenance, security, safety and emergency preparedness program activities at UMMH - MRMC.

The Senior Manager manages and oversees Security department personnel; implements departmental policies and procedures; interprets policies, standards, regulations and codes; coordinates the development, implementation and monitoring of the Hospital-wide Safety and Emergency Preparedness programs, ensuring that the Hospital complies with Joint Commission, Federal, State and Local requirements.

The Senior Manager manages projects and administers programs to maintain building, grounds, and equipment in accordance with regulatory agencies and administrative guidelines; maintains the buildings in livable and workable conditions relative to heat, light, power, air conditioning, and other broad environmental factors; directs the repair, reconstruction, and construction of the hospital’s physical plant and its contents; administers a preventative maintenance program to facilitate uninterrupted service and to assure safe conditions for staff, patients, and visitors.

Qualifications/ Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field preferred; may be substituted with progressive, commensurate job experience.

Certification / License:

  • PMP preferred

Experience:

  • 4 or more years’ experience in a health-care environment preferred.
  • 5+ years of direct management experience including dealing with complex issues or equivalent
  • Superior communication skills; skilled listener and encourages direct, open, and honest conversation keeping all staff apprised of appropriate information;
  • Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships
  • Excellent coaching, conflict resolution and mentoring skills
  • Effectively manages team performance, including setting and holding employees accountable to established performance expectations. Ability to deliver effective feedback in a positive and constructive manner
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, utilizing problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and drive employee engagement and teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and drive performance and process improvement initiatives
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to present at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to formulate and execute strategic plans for the organization.
  • Ability to interpret data to make timely informed data-driven decisions based on associated facts, objectives and risks and can explain the decision-making rationale.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to generate and manage financial allocations in support of strategic priorities after having analyzed the impact to the organization.
  • Creative problem solver with the willingness to take initiatives in leading change as well as the ability to effectively manage change
