About This Position

Central Sterile Processing Educator

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
    • This role is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of educational programs and training for the Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD) staff. This role ensures that all staff members are well-versed in sterile processing techniques, industry standards, and compliance requirements. The CSPD Educator plays a vital role in maintaining the quality and safety of the hospital's sterile processing operations. This position is a working position with variable allocation of time to floor work and education/training. This position will collaborate with the hospital and system education department in curriculum development to align with organizational format.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • Five years of hands-on experience in sterile processing with experience in training or department education.
      • One year of experience training or responsibility for department education.
    • Education and Training:
      • Associate’s degree required within two years of hire.
      • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • CHL - Certified Healthcare Leader required within 6 months of hire.
      • CRCST - Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician at hire required.
      • CIS - Certified Instrument Specialist required.
      • CFER - Certified Endoscopy Reprocessor required.
    • Other Requirements:
      • In-depth knowledge of sterile processing standards, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements.
      • Strong knowledge of sterile processing standards, guidelines, and regulations (e.g., AAMI, AORN, and ANSI).
      • Proficient in the use of training tools, technology, and software.
      • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
      • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
