JOB SUMMARY:
The Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating a variety of recreational, educational, and wellness activities for residents of the Weingart Center. This role supports the overall mission of empowering individuals experiencing homelessness by fostering community engagement, personal development, and social connections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to the following:

• Develop and implement a monthly calendar of activities, including workshops, group outings, fitness classes, arts and crafts, and life skills sessions.
• Collaborate with case managers, mental health professionals, and external partners to ensure activities align with residents’ needs and goals.
• Promote resident participation through outreach, flyers, and one-on-one engagement.
• Monitor attendance and gather feedback to continuously improve programming.
• Ensure all activities are inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive.
• Maintain supplies, manage activity budgets, and coordinate logistics for events.
• Support volunteers and interns assisting with activities.
• Document participation and outcomes for reporting and evaluation purposes.

• Activity Planning and Development:
Creating and scheduling a diverse range of activities, including crafts, games, exercise classes, cultural enrichment, and special events.
• Event Coordination:
Managing all aspects of events, from booking venues and arranging transportation to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
• Participant Engagement:
Encouraging participation and facilitating interaction among participants, adapting activities to suit different needs and abilities.
• Resource Management:
Handling budgets, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
• Communication and Collaboration:
Working with other staff members, volunteers, and sometimes external vendors to ensure smooth execution of activities.
• Record Keeping:
Maintaining records of activities, participant information, and program evaluations.
• Safety and Compliance:
Ensuring all activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be empathetic and have excellent listening skills.
• Good listening skills are essential. Clear, complete speech and communication skills.
• Ability to advocate successfully on behalf of the client.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, recreation, or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in activity coordination, social services, or community engagement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse populations.
• Creative, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use is highly desirable.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Standing and sitting for long periods of time along with being able to move and walk to various locations; climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, twisting, and lifting (20-25lbs.).
• Seeing in general, close vision, general hearing and listening, clear speech, touching, dexterity (hand and finger).
• Complex reading skills, complex writing skills, clerical abilities, memorization skills, analyzing, perception and comprehension, math skills, judgment and decision-making capability.
• Ability to work alone, work with others, work around others, have verbal contact with others, face to face contact, work inside, work outside, work in confined areas, work with noise, work with and around fumes/odors.
