Senior General Ledger Accountant
Cadence, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior General Ledger Accountant to support our Virginia headquarters and two additional U.S. manufacturing sites. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting manufacturing cost accounting, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting.
This position is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with strong manufacturing experience, a deep understanding of inventory and costing mechanics, and the ability to operate independently in a multi-site environment.
Position Overview
The Senior GL Accountant will own key general ledger functions while partnering closely with operations and finance leaders to support manufacturing cost structures, inventory accounting, and month-end close. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and hands-on experience with manufacturing ERP systems.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the General Ledger: Record, review, and reconcile general ledger activity across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Lead Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
- Manufacturing Cost & Inventory Support: Analyze inventory, WIP, absorption, and manufacturing variances; support inventory reconciliations and reserve analysis.
- Costing & Rate Support: Partner with finance and operations leadership to support standard costing, labor rates, and overhead burden updates.
- Variance & Trend Analysis: Investigate fluctuations, identify root causes, and provide clear explanations to leadership.
- Ensure Compliance: Uphold GAAP standards, maintain strong internal controls, and support audit readiness.
- Multi-Site Collaboration: Partner with finance and operations teams across locations to ensure consistent accounting treatment and reporting.
- ERP Utilization: Leverage manufacturing ERP systems to analyze transactions, inventory movement, and cost flows.
- Year-End & Audit Support: Assist with year-end close activities, audits, and other reporting requirements as needed.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, manufacturing cost flows, and general ledger movement.
- Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles.
- Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Ability to independently assess accounting treatment and apply judgment in complex situations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across functions and locations.
Work Arrangement
This role is structured as a hybrid position. The selected candidate will be expected to work onsite at the Staunton, VA location during the initial onboarding and training period. Afterward, the role may transition to primarily remote, with periodic onsite visits as business needs require.
