Registered Nurse Staff at Willis-Knighton Health System – Shreveport, Louisiana

The Night Registered Nurse in the ED provides direct patient care for individuals experiencing acute medical conditions. This role ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced environment. The responsibilities will be to triage, assess and care for patients overnight. Administer medications, treatments and emergency interventions according to hospital policy. The nurse will have to collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams as well as other nurses. They must document patient care accurately and efficiently in electronic health records. The nurse is also responsible for the education of patients and families about diagnoses, along with procedures. The support of patient flow through the department through timely admissions, discharges, and transfers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Interacts with patients, families, and visitors.
• Assigns duties to unit staff.
• Provides technical information and assistance to Nursing personnel, physicians, and other department personnel.
• R.N. with a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Louisiana.
• Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts and techniques which are central to the professional discipline of nursing.
• Human relations skills in interviewing and communication.
• Ability to use initiative in decision-making and independent judgement.
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Lifting and transporting of patients and equipment.
• Frequent exposure to contagious entities.
