This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the design, development, and integration of cockpit and cabin interiors for next-generation business aircraft. The Senior Engineer will work on cutting-edge aircraft projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of furnishings, seating, and selected equipment. You will manage supplier coordination, define system interfaces, and apply first-principles engineering to optimize performance, safety, and manufacturability. The position blends technical ownership with hands-on CAD and design work, supporting innovation, regulatory compliance, and user experience initiatives. It requires balancing creativity, engineering rigor, and collaboration across stakeholders while contributing to the overall excellence of aircraft interiors. The role begins remote with planned travel and eventual onsite work at a new manufacturing facility.
Accountabilities:- Lead technical coordination with interior vendors for cockpit and cabin furnishings and equipment, from concept through certification and delivery.
- Develop and maintain interface models, control drawings, and reference systems to ensure integration with airframe structures and systems.
- Design, detail, and optimize interior components, balancing weight, cost, manufacturability, and compliance.
- Serve as primary CAD technical expert, creating and managing production-level digital product definitions in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Support certification, safety, and quality documentation to meet regulatory requirements (Part 23/ATA 25).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, pilots, human factors specialists, and marketing to enhance user experience and operational reliability.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers, promoting best practices in modeling, integration, and supplier management.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of industry experience in aircraft interiors, furnishings, or equipment design.
- Hands-on expertise with metallic and composite fabrication methods.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5, V6, or 3DEXPERIENCE (minimum 1,000 hours).
- Knowledge of FAR Part 23 and Part 25 certification processes and regulatory standards.
- Strong experience with ASME Y14.100 drawings and Y14.5 GD&T.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff.
