Function of Position:
The Director for Workforce Amplification & Division Strategy supports the mission of the Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services (EDIWS) division by providing strategic leadership in workforce amplification, external partnership initiatives, and division-wide marketing and communication efforts. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development and Career Technical Education, the Director leads research, planning, coordination, and implementation of ongoing and new workforce projects that strengthen MCC's role as a regional workforce engine.
This position collaborates closely with all units within the EDIWS division and with key partners and administrators across the College. The Director ensures alignment between workforce initiatives, strategic marketing, and partnership deliverables, helping the division optimize impact, visibility, and operational effectiveness. Responsibilities include supporting complex workforce initiatives, coordinating cross-functional projects, developing systems that enhance workforce program visibility, and advancing partnership-based workforce solutions.
The Director serves as a strategic partner to the Vice President by managing high-priority workforce and marketing initiatives, ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, and representing the division on select committees, task forces, or workforce-related workgroups.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads division-wide workforce projects and operational initiatives. Oversees key workforce development projects, cross-functional initiatives, and division operations that advance the strategic goals of EDIWS. Provides coordination, planning, and execution support to ensure timely progress, quality outcomes, and alignment with divisional priorities.
- Oversees EDIWS marketing, workforce amplification, and client communication functions. Provides strategic leadership and direction for the division's marketing, outreach, storytelling, and client-facing communication teams. Ensures messaging, branding, and engagement efforts effectively amplify EDIWS workforce programs, partnerships, and impact.
- Manages division communications, publications, and visibility efforts. Directs the creation, review, and execution of announcements, reports, and publications, including division updates, impact reports, and workforce event materials. Provides oversight for all EDIWS web assets, social media presence, multimedia content, and communication analytics to support continuous improvement.
- Supports development and execution of divisional strategic priorities. Collaborates with the Vice President, EDIWS leadership, and senior College stakeholders to design, implement, and monitor strategic workforce initiatives. Ensures division-wide alignment and operational readiness for new programs, partnership projects, and organizational initiatives.
- Upholds confidentiality, judgment, and inclusive leadership practices. Handles sensitive information and high-stakes matters with discretion and professionalism. Demonstrates cultural competence, tact, and adaptability in working with diverse internal and external partners across the workforce ecosystem.
- Translates strategic goals into actionable operational plans. Serves as a bridge between vision and implementation, translating strategic concepts into practical workflows, project plans, and operational systems. Ensures division teams have clarity, structure, and support to execute workforce initiatives effectively.
- Provides influential leadership to promote strategic alignment and operational excellence across the EDIWS division. Ensures clear communication of strategy and priorities, and collaborates closely with division leaders and staff to interpret and implement the VP's directives.
- Coordinates priorities and workflow originating from the Vice President's office. Manages and organizes requests, initiatives, and follow-up items, and engages cross-departmentally to ensure alignment, clarity, and efficient use of leadership time and resources.
- Provides strategic and administrative oversight for the MCC Business & Industry database. Leads development strategy, ensures effective operations, and provides back-up administration for the Business & Industry CRM/database--supporting accurate data, partner intelligence, and workforce engagement tracking.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Carries out additional responsibilities that support the mission, operations, and workforce objectives of the EDIWS division.
- Leads, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates direct reports (4 managers), departments, and programs adhering to appropriate College procedures.
- Provides supervision for (4) direct reports: Manager, EDIWS Marketing Operations; Manager, Systems Administration and Technologies; Manager, EDIWS Budget and Operations; and Manager, Education to Employment.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Earned a master's degree in business or a related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business or a related field.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with constantly shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Supervisory, leadership, and managerial experience.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle complex business problems with limited definition and uncover root causes, develop solutions, and translate into specific recommendations for action.
- Documented ability to integrate data into decision-making to promote effective practice and policy.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, including strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Evidence of proficiency with technology, including a fluency with a variety of computer applications, including MS Office components (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Commitment to continued professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting executive-level leaders.
- Earned Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree or higher from a regionally-accredited higher education institution.
- Professional services experience.
- Documented experience within an urban, comprehensive community college.
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a range of $78,000 to $89,000 and is based on the mentioned factors.
