Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Hospice

The Heart of the Role

Are you a seasoned RN with a passion for hospice and a gift for leadership? We are looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing who can balance the "big picture" of clinical operations with the personal touch of patient care. In this dual-impact role, you will support our Director of Nursing in leading a dedicated interdisciplinary team, ensuring our clinical services are top-notch, compliant, and—most importantly—deeply compassionate. You'll also keep your clinical skills sharp by maintaining a part-time case load, ensuring you stay connected to the mission that brought you to nursing in the first place.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Clinical Leadership: Supervise the planning and delivery of interdisciplinary care, ensuring our patients and families receive the highest quality support.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage staff scheduling, perform documentation reviews, and ensure we stay "survey-ready" by maintaining strict CMS and Joint Commission compliance.
  • The Bridge: Serve as a key member of the management team, troubleshooting clinical challenges and mentoring our nursing and CNA staff through competency evaluations and orientation.
  • Direct Care: Act as an RN Case Manager on a part-time basis, performing consultations and managing a small caseload to stay grounded in patient needs.
  • Quality & Growth: Participate in QAPI programs and help lead in-service education for our staff and the local community.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Credentials: A current RN license in [State] and a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of nursing experience (Hospice or Home Health experience within the last 5 years is strongly preferred).
  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of pain and symptom management and terminal care.
  • The "Compliance Brain": Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Leadership Style: You are a clear communicator who remains calm under pressure and leads with sensitivity toward both staff and families

Schedule & Physical Demands

  • Flexibility is Key: This role includes travel to patient residences and participation in an after-hours/weekend on-call rotation.
  • Environment: A mix of office-based coordination and in-home patient visits.
  • Physicality: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and move comfortably within various home environments.
