Purpose and Scope
In accordance with Vogel Bros. Building Co.’s beliefs / values / mission / vision, and in direct support of the job Superintendent, a Foreman is responsible for the safety, quality of work, cost of work, schedule, labor, equipment and materials associated with the assigned work. A Foreman helps the Superintendent to ensure that all work is carried out in a manner that exemplifies and promotes a safe, caring and ethical culture.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
A. General Duties
1. Work with the subcontractors’ foremen and lead persons on the project to manage people, time and equipment.
2. Participate in all scheduled weekly and monthly meetings.
B. Quality Control
1. Help ensure quality control in compliance with Vogel Bros. Quality Control Requirements and special instructions as required by the project, and/or directed by the job Superintendent.
2. Help ensure high standards of craftsmanship, assembly, and cleanliness are met and maintained on job sites, by all Vogel Bros. and subcontractor crews.
3. Work with layout personnel to establish and lay out building lines, baselines and benchmarks.
4. Responsible for supervising the daily work activities of his/her crew.
C. Safety
1. Adhere to and assist with enforcement of Vogel Bros. Building Co.’s Safety Program; local, state and federal safety regulations; jobsite-specific safety expectations; and safety tasks as requested by or coordinated with the Director of Safety and Human Resources, Safety Specialist, and/or the Director of Field Operations.
2. Maintain high safety standards by setting a personal example.
3. Participate in job site safety meetings and safety inspections.
4. Participate in and assist Superintendent with Daily Huddles with your crews, focusing on safety, the day’s planned activities, and ensuring the crew understands the plan, goals and expectations for that day’s work.
D. Cost
1. Be familiar with the costs of specific work activities involving his/her crew.
2. Supervise and coordinate work activities to maximize productivity and minimize final costs.
3. Communicate daily production goals to work crews.
E. Schedule
1. Assist the job Superintendent in monitoring the schedule, and report any problems that may affect final costs and/or Vogel Bros.’ ability to meet established deadlines.
2. Expedite and coordinate material deliveries and storage.
3. Support the job Superintendent in conducting and documenting weekly meetings to schedule and coordinate the work of all Vogel Bros. and subcontractor crews.
F. Staff/Support Services
1. Inform the job Superintendent when manpower, material, and/or equipment shortages are anticipated.
2. Support continuous improvement of field personnel by way of:
i. Leading by example;
ii. Providing regular feedback – both strengths as well as areas for improvement – to staff regarding their performance, and working in cooperation with the job Superintendent and Director of Field Operations to develop personnel;
iii. As requested, assisting with the completion of performance appraisals and peer reviews; and
iv. Creating a healthy environment where employees can reach their full potential.

Requirements:Education and Experience
- Education equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.
- Two (2) years of experience in the construction trade, or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience determined to be acceptable by the hiring authority.
Work Environment
- Exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other outdoor weather conditions.
- Moderate to loud noise levels.
- High, precarious locations.
- Walking surfaces may be uneven and affected by weather and construction conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and bend for full work days.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands, arms, fingers, and to reach.
- Ability to work from heights.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 85 pounds without assistance.
