Job Summary:
This position is a full-time, 7-month position embedded with the Ohio Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Command. This role works directly alongside OHARNG leadership on one of the most operationally complex missions in the state National Guard system by supporting program coordination, stakeholder communication, and delivery tracking that directly inform recruiting, retention, and readiness outcomes impacting thousands of soldiers.
Unlike traditional entry-level roles, this position offers immediate, substantive responsibility from day one. You will develop highly transferable skills valued across the federal government and defense contracting sector, supported by a team committed to your professional growth. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance and initiative will be considered for contract extension or long-term engagement.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter; an individual who takes ownership of their work, asks the right questions, and drives solutions without waiting to be told what to do next. If you thrive in fast-paced environments and want your first job to matter, this is the opportunity for you.
- Support day-to-day program coordination for OHARNG recruiting, retention, and readiness initiatives, including tracking action items, maintaining project logs, and following up on open items with stakeholders
- Assist in planning and facilitating working group meetings, briefings, and leadership check-ins; prepare agendas, capture notes, and track follow-through on decisions
- Draft, format, and maintain program documentation including standard operating procedures, status reports, risk and issue logs, and milestone trackers
- Coordinate across internal teams and government counterparts to support on-time delivery of program milestones and reporting requirements
- Support preparation of executive briefings and presentations for Recruiting Battalion and senior OHARNG leadership on program status, performance trends, and priority initiatives
- Assist with onboarding coordination, training logistics, and scheduling for program staff and cross-functional working groups
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying process gaps, documenting workflows, and supporting adoption of new tools and procedures
- Maintain SharePoint lists, document libraries, and team sites to support program organization, version control, and stakeholder access
- Assist in maintaining Power BI dashboards by updating data connections, flagging discrepancies, and coordinating with technical leads on report updates as needed
- Handle sensitive personnel and program information with discretion and in accordance with government data handling requirements
Working Conditions and Location:
- Candidate must be available to report in person to Beightler Armory, 2825 W Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43235, 5 days a week (Monday – Friday) 8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST
- Standard office environment with occasional remote coordination with clients
- Hybrid coordination with remote teammates; some travel for training/meetings may be required
- May require handling of sensitive or controlled information
- Fast-paced, goal-driven environment supporting high-visibility personnel programs
Qualifications Required:
- Ability to report in person to Beightler Armory, Columbus, OH (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST)
- Bachelor’s degree completed by June 2025 (or within 3 months of application) in a relevant field
- U.S. citizenship and ability to handle sensitive government information
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort working in collaborative platforms such as Teams or SharePoint
Preferred
- Prior internship, co-op, capstone, or research experience involving program or project coordination
- Familiarity with project management concepts such as scope, schedule, risk, and stakeholder management (PMP coursework or certification a plus)
- Experience supporting or working within a government, military, or defense contracting environment
- Prior National Guard, ROTC, or military-affiliated experience
- Experience with requirements gathering, stakeholder facilitation, or cross-functional working groups
- Ability to work effectively with hybrid teams of contractors and government personnel
