Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Nurse Specialist organizes, plans, and supervises the medical component for assigned programs and individuals, satisfying State regulations which ensure the general health and well-being of agency clients.

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Nurse Specialist organizes, plans, and supervises the medical component for assigned programs and individuals, satisfying State regulations which ensure the general health and well-being of agency clients.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Has RN license in good standing.
- Joint RN medical oversight of agency group homes, including in-person assessments and scheduled visits.
- Joint RN oversight to ensure that all residential programs are following regulations from all governing bodies as applicable by identifying deficiencies and instructing on, and following up on, any changes needed.
- In person nursing assessment of potential/new admissions for Residential programs.
- As needed trainings for UCS or contracted staff regarding medication or medical needs.
- Joint participation in care plan and discharge planning meetings for consumers hospitalized and/or admitted to rehabilitation and obtain nurse to nurse report prior to discharge.
- Participate in chart reviews for each program as part of a review committee.
- Review medical appointment paperwork and update EMR as needed.
- Joint development of Nursing Care Plans for DS group homes.
- Joint medication delegation training offered at least monthly with follow up observations yearly and as needed for all medication delegated staff members.
- Participate in Agency committees as available and appropriate.
- Assist with Employee Health Office as part of UCS benefits program.
- Be available for questions/concerns and provide limited medical advice to UCS employees and consumers.
- Assists in monitoring office medical supplies and medication samples.
- *In addition to the above, performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Typing skills; Microsoft Office skills; electronic health record systems; e-mail use and etiquette, Maintain BLS certification.
- Current Clinical licensure in State of Vermont
- Valid Driver’s License
