About This Position
Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing and overseeing the daily accounting operations for a fast-paced personal care contract manufacturing environment. This position will ensure accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and alignment with internal controls while supporting operational decision-making. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Production, Supply Chain, and Quality—to ensure accurate cost tracking, timely month-end close, and effective financial analysis that supports the company’s growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Support annual audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and liaising with external auditors.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Support
- Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and production data to ensure accurate product costing and margin analysis.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to monitor inventory levels, perform cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain and reconcile standard cost models for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Prepare cost analysis to support pricing strategies, new product launches, and make/buy decisions.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness in financial operations.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to management to aid in decision-making.
- Support ERP system enhancements and ensure data integrity within financial modules.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment (personal care, cosmetics, or consumer goods experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
