Champtires.com is the largest retailer of used tires in the United States — and we’re growing. We are seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to join our team as VCS Technicians at our West Mifflin facility. This role is essential to our production flow and directly impacts inventory availability, customer satisfaction, and overall operational performance.
Position Summary
The VCS Technician is responsible for inspecting, classifying, and processing used tires after Air Testing. This role ensures that every tire is accurately graded, safely handled, and properly routed into inventory, repair, or scrap. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Tire Inspection & Classification
• Perform secondary visual and physical inspections of tires for tread depth, sidewall condition, and overall quality.
• Verify tire information including size, brand, DOT, and condition.
Production Workflow
• Process tires efficiently through the VCS station to meet daily throughput targets.
• Accurately log all processed tires in the system, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
Quality & Safety
• Follow all safety procedures for lifting, handling, and operating equipment.
• Identify defects or safety concerns and escalate when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Team Collaboration
• Work closely with Air Testing, Repair, and Inventory teams to maintain smooth production flow.
• Communicate issues, delays, or equipment concerns to supervisors promptly.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
Qualifications
• Ability to lift, move, and handle tires throughout the shift, up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Prior warehouse, production, or automotive experience is helpful but not required — training provided.
Schedule & Compensation
• Full‑time position at our West Mifflin facility.
• Competitive hourly pay, $18.00 per hour with opportunities for performance‑based increases.
