The Senior Investment Associate will play a meaningful role in investment analysis, portfolio reporting, ongoing portfolio management, and infrastructure buildout within a growing, sophisticated reinsurance platform. Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Investment Officer, the Senior Investment Associate st is a core member of the investment team and will contribute to real-world investment decision-making, portfolio construction and strategy, and cross-functional initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct In-Depth Investment Analysis: Perform comprehensive analysis of investment opportunities, market trends, and portfolio performance using advanced analytical techniques and data modeling
- Portfolio Management: Support the investment team in managing day-to-day activities for the inforce investment portfolio
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams including Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, Operations, and external asset managers to support investment initiatives
- Investment Research & Market Analysis: Track, evaluate, and report on developments in financial markets and their impact on portfolio allocations and strategy
- Reporting & Communication: Prepare comprehensive investment reports, performance analytics, and presentations for senior leadership and investment committee meetings
- Risk Assessment & Monitoring: Analyze investment risks, monitor compliance with investment guidelines, and support the development of risk management frameworks
- Process Improvement: Develop or enhance reporting tools to monitor performance, portfolio allocation relative to strategic asset allocation, risk limits, asset manager mandates and other key initiatives
- Other tasks as assigned
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related quantitative field
- 5+ years of experience in investments, asset management, insurance/reinsurance, or related financial services role
- Progress toward or completion of professional designations (e.g., CFA) preferred but not required
- Experience with investment performance analysis and portfolio management concepts
- Familiarity with insurance industry investments or liability-driven investing preferred
- Experience working with large datasets and complex financial models
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and analytical tools
- Working knowledge of insurance industry, capital markets, fixed income, and/or alternative investments preferred
- Familiarity with portfolio analytics, asset allocation concepts, and investment performance metrics
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms is a plus
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort with uncertainty and the ability to solve complex, open-ended problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey analytical insights
- Intellectual curiosity and strong interest in financial markets, portfolio construction, and investment strategy
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and mentorship to interns and junior team members as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Location and Travel
