Certified Medical Assistant / Surgical Scribe
Manage Physician Workflow in High-Performance Surgery Center
Location: Stockbridge Surgery Center (3 days) & Buckhead Surgery Center (2 days)
Join ProCo’s elite Surgery Center team as a Certified Medical Assistant and Surgical Scribe. You'll be the vital link managing surgeon workflow, ensuring seamless operations between physicians, nurses, and patients in our fast-paced surgical environment.
This unique role combines clinical support with surgical coordination expertise in a dynamic environment with predictable hours (7:45 AM - 4:00 PM, no late nights).
Core Responsibilities
Physician Workflow Management & Scribing
- Manage surgeon's patient queue - determine which patient is next and ensure physician has required documentation
- Retrieve and organize medical records (MRIs, X-rays, cervical/lumbar spine imaging) when cases change mid-procedure
- Print notes and procedure documentation
- Coordinate with pharmacy for patient-specific medications, managing changes and special requests during procedures
- Confirm and document procedures with surgeon and circulating nurse after each case to ensure accuracy
- Communicate with interop nurse to verify correct procedure codes and documentation before patient discharge
Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Assist nurses with patient intake, vital signs, and preparation for procedures
- Support PACU operations by preparing chairs/beds between patients?
- Provide bilingual communication support for Spanish-speaking patients during all phases of care
- Bring patients back from waiting area and assist with positioning for procedures
Administrative & Team Coordination
- Maintain accurate documentation in EHR system for all patient interactions and procedures
- Manage communication flow between clinical team, pharmacy, and external providers
- Ensure all required documentation is complete before patient discharge
- Support quality assurance by maintaining detailed procedure records
- Adapt to dynamic surgical schedule changes and priority shifts throughout the day
Team Collaboration
- Work seamlessly with surgical team, adapting to each surgeon's preferences and workflow
- Communicate proactively about potential delays, missing documentation, or operational issues
- Support team members during high-volume periods or staffing challenges
- Contribute positive energy and professionalism to maintain excellent team dynamics

Qualifications & Skills
Required - Non-Negotiable
- Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program
- Fluent in Spanish and English - essential for daily operations
- Strong proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems - you'll be documenting procedures in real-time
- Previous clinical experience in medical setting (minimum 1 year preferred)
- Reliable transportation for travel between Stockbridge and Buckhead locations
- Work history demonstrating stability (minimum 18 months in previous roles preferred)
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
Strongly Preferred
- 2+ years experience as Medical Assistant in clinical setting
- Previous experience with NextGen and/or Case Manager systems
- Surgical center or orthopedic practice experience
- Experience with physician workflow coordination or scribe duties
- Understanding of orthopedic procedures and terminology

Work Environment & Expectations

Compensation & Benefits
- $22-25/hour based on experience
