About This Position

Location: 1425 Innovation Place, West Lafayette, IN

Starting pay based on skills and experience

Eligible annual bonus target: $2,500.00

Standard Hours: Monday-Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm (flexible) - off hours and weekend work as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs installation, preventative and corrective “hands on” maintenance, and calibration tasks on laboratory and process equipment.
  • Completes maintenance activities and upkeep of the Company’s facilities, building and utility equipment, and grounds
  • Works effectively with minimal supervision and ensures tasks are completed on time per the maintenance schedule.
  • Records and documents work accurately and completely on work orders and quality system paperwork
  • Communicates with vendors to schedule services and purchase parts and materials.
  • Hosts maintenance and calibration vendors and ensures their work is completed according to quality standards and specifications.
  • Responds in a timely manner to maintenance help tickets and provides a high level of support to operations and other departments.
  • Troubleshoots facility, utility, and equipment malfunctions, and resolves issues utilizing the appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Provides input for development of maintenance/calibration procedures for new equipment and makes recommendations to optimize existing tasks and schedules.
  • Leads and/or supports facility projects, such as construction, installation of new equipment and processes, and upgrades or improvements.
  • Mentors and trains other technicians in area(s) of expertise and may train new team members.
  • Collaborates with engineering on projects such as validation of new equipment and processes.
  • Maintains maintenance/calibration supply/parts inventory.
  • Promotes positive safety culture by following all established procedures and guidelines and proactively identifying hazards.
  • Applies thorough understanding of the Quality System requirements in carrying out duties.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 9+ years’ experience in maintenance or trades, such as carpentry, construction, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation

Certification

  • Industry related certifications preferred

Skills

  • Excellent understanding of facility mechanical and electrical systems – HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting.
  • Skilled with hand tools and power tools.
  • Experience with calibration of instruments.
  • Advanced aptitude in mechanical and electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Expert problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to follow written instructions precisely.
  • Effective listening and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills; able to plan and execute work to meet established goals with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with using computers for word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, and Computerized Maintenance Management Software
  • Demonstrated expertise in area(s) of specialization.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast-paced situations.

  • Physical demands are typical of a commercial maintenance and light manufacturing environment

Working Environment

  • Onsite: Office environment with assigned workstation
  • Limited exposure to hazardous chemicals, material derived from animal tissues, and active pharmaceutical ingredients used in the manufacture of product
