Responsibilities


The Security Guard ensures the safety and security of staff, clients, and visitors across multiple sites. This role combines security operations with administrative support tasks, requiring strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.

Essential Core Responsibilities:

Security Operations:

  • Monitor premises and conduct regular patrols to identify suspicious activities and ensure safety.
  • Perform security checks at arrivals and departures, including bag inspections and wand screenings.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and high-risk situations; escalate to authorities when necessary.
  • Complete incident reports for injuries, property damage, or safety concerns within 24 hours.
  • Maintain surveillance systems and verify operational status of cameras and alarms.
  • Enforce visitor sign-in/out procedures and confidentiality of logs and reports.
  • Support parenting time sessions by escorting children and visitors according to protocol.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies for identified threats (e.g., weapons, drugs, disruptive behavior).
  • Support staff with obtaining safety devices during in-person sessions (e.g., walkies, panic buttons).
  • Work closely with IT and Compliance to maintain security requirements, device updates, and technical support.

Administrative Operations:

  • Complete daily shift and phone system reports and submit them through designated forms.
  • Answer phones and route calls when coordinators or leadership are unavailable.
  • Collaborate with transportation services when barriers arise; document challenges.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk, vestibule, and waiting areas; ensure sensitive data is secured.
  • Assist with scheduling and PTO calendar updates for coverage planning.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance concerns and general logistics to support safe office operations.
  • Complete certifications and attend required training and meetings to maintain compliance.
  • Support quality assurance and operations effectiveness through improvement projects, reports, and audits.
  • Availability to work weekend and/or evening hours and travel between BAPC site locations based on service needs.

Qualifications


Job Competencies:

  • Safety & Security Expertise: Knowledge of OPOTA standards, emergency response, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with staff, families, and external partners; bilingual skills preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate documentation of incidents, visitor logs, and shift reports.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Warmly greet visitors and assist in creating a positive experience.
  • Problem-Solving: Respond calmly and effectively to critical situations.
  • Confidentiality & Compliance: Adherence to HIPAA, organizational policies, and data security protocols.

Education & Work Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2–5 years of verifiable experience in security or related field.
  • OPOTA or Security Guard License preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting.
  • Be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • The ability to read, understand, and apply printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials.
  • The ability to maintain poise and self-control under stress; de-escalate high-risk situations.
  • The ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
