Housekeeping Aide at St. John Lutheran Home – Springfield, Minnesota

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position plays an essential role in infection prevention and overall resident well-being by ensuring cleanliness standards are consistently met throughout the nursing home.

• Primary hours: 6:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

• Hours per week: Approximately 32–35 hours

• Weekend rotation: Work 1 weekend every 6 weeks

• Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and other facility spaces

• Follow infection control procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and supplies

• Collect, remove, and dispose of trash and biohazard materials according to facility policies

• Refill supplies such as soap, paper products, and disinfectants

• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply needs to supervisor

• Follow established schedules, cleaning checklists, and facility policies

• Work cooperatively with nursing, dietary, and other departments to support resident care

• Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality at all times

• Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Previous housekeeping or healthcare experience preferred, but not required

• Must be able to meet physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing carts

• Must be able to pass a DHS Background Study

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching

• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds

• Exposure to cleaning chemicals with proper PPE

• Nursing home / long-term care setting

• Indoor environment with potential exposure to cleaning agents and bodily fluids
