Job Summary:
Responsible for maintaining diesel equipment in safe and reliable operating conditions by performing inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs. Ensures vehicles meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards while maintaining accurate service records.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect and diagnose vehicles and equipment to assess condition and identify worn or damaged components.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including component upgrades, corrosion control, and seasonal winterization procedures.
• Repair and correct equipment deficiencies by removing, overhauling, adjusting, assembling, and replacing major systems and components, including powertrain, drivetrain, electrical, HVAC, fuel, emissions, brake, steering, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform precision adjustments and alignments on bearings, gears, valves, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units, as well as complete required machine shop operations.
• Verify repairs and overall vehicle performance through testing and operational checks, including road tests.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, safety, and OEM standards through proper testing and inspection procedures.
• Maintain vehicle appearance through cleaning, washing, and painting as required.
• Accurately document maintenance and repair activities in fleet management software.
• Maintain shop equipment by following operating procedures, troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating repairs when necessary.
• Manage costs effectively by utilizing warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
• Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and verify receipt of materials.
• Stay current with technical advancements and regulatory updates through ongoing training and review of industry publications.
• Contribute to the success and reputation of the maintenance department by taking responsibility and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Experience:

• Must be able to obtain a DOT physical and pass Fit for Duty Exam.
• Must have exceptional knowledge in Safety, Tooling, Supply Management, Mechanical Inspection Tools, Technical Understanding, Attention to Detail, Dependability, Thoroughness, Verbal Communication, Documentation Skills, Inventory Control, and Job Knowledge.
• Must have basic set of hand tools.
