Muskoka Lumber is a fast-growing, locally trusted business serving contractors, homeowners, and cottagers across Muskoka. Our retail store is a busy, hands-on environment where no two days are the same.


We are hiring a Retail Associate (Seasonal Student) for the spring and summer season. In this role, you’ll assist customers with paint products, mix custom colours, stock shelves, and help keep the department clean and organized. You’ll gain hands-on experience, build valuable skills, and be part of a supportive, energetic team.

Key Responsibilities:


In this role, you will support daily retail operations within the Store, you will:

  • Assist customers by providing friendly, knowledgeable service, helping customers select paint, stains, and building products
  • Accurately mix custom paint and tint colours using in-store tinting systems while ensuring quality and consistency
  • Maintain store standards, stock shelves, rotate inventory, maintain displays, and ensure the department is clean, organized, and well merchandised
  • Support sales and transactions, process customer purchases accurately through the POS system and assist with product inquiries
  • Assist with inventory through receiving shipments, verifying product quantities, and assist with inventory organization and replenishment
  • Promote safety and cleanliness, maintain a safe workspace, properly handle materials, and follow all store policies and procedures, particularly for spills and equipment use


What you bring:


At Muskoka Lumber, we look for team members who combine strong customer service skills with reliability and attention to detail. Required skills, abilities, and attributes:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated student, preferred
  • Strong customer service mindset with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Comfortable working in a retail environment and interacting with customers throughout the day
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow mixing formulas and instructions accurately
  • Ability to lift and move paint cans and materials (up to 50 lbs)
  • Strong organizational skills and commitment to maintaining store standards
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn
  • Basic math skills for measurements, mixing ratios, and transactions
  • Previous experience using a POS system (or willingness to learn), is an asset
  • Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset, but not required
