About This Position
Spent years in the trades and tired of chaos, callbacks, and running jobs without real authority? We’re looking for the experienced technician everyone turns to when the job gets complicated — the one who can lead a crew, solve problems, and keep projects running smoothly. Your experience will help shape how this company grows.
The Job
TruBlue of Newton–Wellesley is hiring a senior technician / field supervisor to help lead the field side of the business.
Your job is simple to describe but hard to do well: accurately assess and estimate complex home repair and remodel projects, lead technicians in the field, and ensure multi‑day jobs run smoothly and professionally. This role will become the most senior field authority in the company.
You will still work with tools, but you’ll also bring the leadership and judgment that keeps jobs running right.
This role exists so the owner can focus on growing the business while you take ownership of how projects are executed day to day.
Compensation & Total Value Package
This is a leadership role with a path to running field operations.
Competitive Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 based on experience and leadership capability, plus bonuses
Company Truck & Fuel Card: Provided after onboarding
Performance Incentives: Bonuses tied to profitable project completion and team performance
Consistent Monday–Friday Hours: No on‑call rotations and no required weekend work
Leadership Path: This role is designed to transition into a Field Operations Manager position as the company grows
Professional Support: Full office support through Housecall Pro. Scheduling, billing, and collections are handled by the office so you can focus on the work
Problems This Role Will Solve
Our company is growing, but the field side of the business needs experienced leadership. You will take ownership of solving these problems:
Accurately assessing and estimating multi‑day residential repair, renovation, and remodel projects
Managing technicians so complex jobs stay on schedule and on budget
Bringing credibility, structure, and leadership to field operations
Turning complicated jobs into organized, well‑run projects
This is not a basic technician role. You will help build the operational backbone of the company.
Outcomes (First 12 Months)
Multi‑day projects are scoped and estimated with confidence
Technicians work more efficiently with experienced field leadership
Customers trust our recommendations because problems are explained clearly and professionally
The company stabilizes as a team of 4–5 technicians operating under strong field leadership, and then grows beyond that.
Key Responsibilities
Estimate and scope multi‑day residential repair and renovation projects including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and related work
Visit customer homes, diagnose problems, and recommend practical repair solutions
Lead technicians on site to ensure jobs are completed correctly, safely, and efficiently
Make day‑to‑day project decisions without constant oversight
Step in to resolve unexpected issues when projects become more complex
Communicate clearly with homeowners about scope, timing, and solutions
Work with the office team using Housecall Pro to coordinate scheduling and workflow
Identify additional repair opportunities when they genuinely benefit the homeowner
Competencies
Non‑Negotiables
10–15 years of hands‑on residential construction, renovation, or home repair experience, including multi‑day projects such as kitchens, bathrooms, or similar remodel work
Strong working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical
Ability to diagnose residential repair problems accurately
Experience leading or supervising technicians on job sites
Ability to command respect and bring structure to a crew
Confidence communicating with homeowners about repairs and solutions
Comfort using technology and field management software
Nice‑to‑Haves
Experience using technology to estimate projects or write scopes of work
Experience mentoring or training junior technicians
The Ideal Profile
The right person for this role is the technician other technicians naturally follow. You have spent years in the trades and are confident diagnosing problems, organizing work, and making decisions in the field when situations change.
