PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Learning & Development Specialist supports the delivery and coordination of employee learning programs that promote operational effectiveness and professional development across the credit union. This role facilitates new employee onboarding and refresher training, develops engaging learning content, and maintains training resources and systems that support employee knowledge and performance. Working closely with the Senior Learning & Development Specialist, this position helps ensure employees receive consistent, high-quality training and have access to the tools and information needed to perform their roles effectively and deliver exceptional member service.
Pay Range: $29.39 - $37.83 per hour commensurate with experience
Hybrid Work Arrangement: 4 days a week on-site required when facilitating new hire training. 2 - 3 days a week on-site required otherwise. Employee will have the opportunity to work from home 1-2 days a week as staffing allows.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES:
Training Delivery & Employee Onboarding
- Facilitate new employee onboarding and refresher training programs in collaboration with the Senior Learning & Development Specialist, alternating responsibility for onboarding cohorts.
- Coordinate the two-week onboarding training schedule and provide training summaries to managers upon completion of initial new employee training.
- Facilitate the credit union’s annual IRA training program and support related training updates as regulations or operational practices change.
- Maintain onboarding training materials and develop practice transactions in the training environment to support hands-on employee learning.
- Monitor trainee progress through assessments, observation, and feedback from supervisors, and provide input on training effectiveness.
Content Development & Training Systems
- Develop and maintain training materials and learning content, including job aids, e-learning modules, visual resources, training exercises, and assessments.
- Develop engaging and interactive content that supports effective employee learning and knowledge retention.
- Utilize learning platforms such as PowerPoint, iSpring, BAI, and AI-supported training tools to create, update, and maintain online training content.
- Maintain and update the Central Point training page and other internal training resources to ensure employees have access to current information.
- Maintain and update learning & development (L&D) department procedure documentation and training materials.
Learning & Development Program Support
- Coordinate and support employee L&D programs that align with the credit union’s objectives.
- Assign and track onboarding and required learning courses for new employees and maintain accurate completion records.
- Support administrative aspects of L&D, including scheduling sessions, maintaining records, and assisting with departmental initiatives related to new systems, products, or process changes.
- Coordinate monthly CUSO Awareness sessions, including distribution and review of participant feedback.
- Participate in quarterly L&D strategy meetings and contribute insights on program effectiveness, organizational learning needs, and development opportunities identified through department feedback.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the department’s task calendar.
- Stay current on job-related equipment, procedures, and information by reviewing materials, attending meetings and seminars, and participating in professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to all applicable Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain community involvement and participate in special projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Education: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized certification or licensing
Experience: 1 to 3 years in a role as a trainer within a financial institution or equivalent.
Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and SharePoint; ability to develop and maintain learning materials and content; ability to facilitate engaging learning sessions and adapt delivery methods to different learning styles; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain detailed records; ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
