The Role
This role is at the core of Crafty’s value “We Are a Team” by working with and ensuring our data is easily accessible and understandable for the larger team. This is a growing function within the company and we’re looking for someone who is excited at the prospect of building out new data sources, creating reports, analyzing data and thinking long term about our data strategy. By joining this small but mighty team you will have the opportunity to shape the department's long term strategy while also having an immediate impact by elevating the analysis and decision making across all departments.
Required Attributes
- Technical Problem Solving – Strong ability to break down and resolve technical challenges efficiently. You are comfortable working across different tools and technologies and take a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and optimizing analytical workflows. You may not know every system inside out, but you know how to best use existing tooling for different scenarios

You ensure clarity and alignment by tailoring your communication to your audience, whether they’re technical partners or business leaders. Ideal Experience
- 2+ years of experience working in data-related roles
- Strong Technical background with Postgres, Snowflake, ETLs/ELTs, DBT, Tableau
- 2+ years of SQL experience
- Have worked with data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, Looker, etc.)
- Prior experience with AI Tooling / Projects
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Gaining a full understanding of our database, the data we collect, and helping other business units understand our capabilities
- Synthesizing large data sets in order to generate actionable insights that help a team monitor and achieve departmental goals
- Building out data sources and reports in Tableau
- Creating custom queries in SQL
- Working cross functionally to help understand the reporting needs and priorities of each department
- Helping the leadership team make high impact decisions
- Identifying areas of automation to help improve operational efficiency of different departments
- Trialing out new technologies and AI tooling to increase efficiencies and empower data accessibility

Role Goals

Lead the delivery of all major projects assigned to the individual per quarter, ensuring the work is scoped accurately, dependencies are identified early, and delivery is within/exceeding stakeholders expectations. Drive quality by implementing and advocating for best practices in testing, monitoring, and peer review. - Measurable:
Ensure that 90%+ of assigned roadmap features or milestones are delivered within 10% of the planned timeline. - Achievable:
This goal fits within the role's current level of responsibility and authority, and delivery success is supported by cross-functional collaboration and quarterly planning. - Relevant:
Consistent, high-quality delivery ensures Crafty can scale reliably and meet business goals while reducing data debt and support burden. - Time-bound:
Evaluate delivery success quarterly, based on major initiatives the Data Analyst is staffed on, with metrics reviewed during performance check-ins.

Our compensation amount for this role is targeted at $80,000 - $95,000 per year in Chicago. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including cost of living based on location, candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
