POSITION SUMMARY
In a manufacturing environment, will operate a spot weld machine to weld a limited variety of light to medium metal parts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Set-up, operates, and tends welding machines that join or bond components to fabricate metal products or assemblies.
- Load or feed workpieces into welding machines.
- Assemble, align, and clamp workpieces into holding fixtures to bond fabricated metal components.
- Prepare metal surfaces and workpieces.
- Mark weld points and positions of components on workpieces.
- Observe meters, gauges, and machine operations to ensure that spot welding processes meet specifications.
- Inspect, measure, or test completed metal workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Select proper tips according to metal types and thickness.
ESSENTIAL TASKS
- Conduct peel test, destructive test, and stud test before welding; then making necessary adjustments to equipment. Select proper tips according to metal types and thickness.
- Dress electrodes, using tip dressers, emery cloths, or dressing wheels.
- Read blueprints, work orders, and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications.
- Record operational information on specified production reports.
- Ability to train others.

EDUCATION
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
EXPERIENCE
At least six months of welding experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Computer Skills- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel and Word)
- Learn MiTek's internal systems
Other Requirements
- Knowledge of machines and hand tools and the ability to use the appropriate one safely
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control
- Interpret blueprints as well as receive verbal instructions
- Ability to become forklift certified and drive a forklift
- Ability to train others
