About the Role:
The Environmental Recycling Technician supports Tribal recycling and waste reduction programs under the supervision of the Manager of Environmental Health and Sustainability. This role assists with daily recycling operations, community outreach, data tracking, and facility maintenance to help meet program and grant goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect data to support environmental programs.
  • Assist with implementing Tribal recycling and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Conduct scheduled recycling pick-ups and baling for vendor transport.
  • Maintain recycling facilities and equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Promote recycling within the Tribal community.
  • Promote recycling within the Tribal community.
  • Participate in community recycling events.
  • Follow SOPs and safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with community members and customers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Core Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to complete PCI Recycling forklift certification program within ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Experience in recycling or solid waste activities preferred.
  • Experience operating recycling equipment to include tele-handler, skid steer, and forklift preferred.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
Essential Competencies:
  • Ability to operate recycling equipment and pull/back trailers.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs., work outdoors, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Must be able to swim.
  • Accountable, reliable, and safety-focused.
