About This Position

Duininck Companies is a multigenerational family business portfolio in water management, construction and materials, and real estate industries. A dedicated centralized team serves the portfolio, providing executive and functional leadership in Information Services, Risk Management, Human Resources, and Finance for our companies compromised of 1,000+ employees at locations throughout the U.S.

The Central Team is positioned with a unique, portfolio-wide view to support the priorities of the Enterprise Board and Ownership group, while also providing specific services that can be leveraged as a larger organization. As we continue to refine our portfolio approach, we recognize the need to elevate the maturity of all functional areas throughout our family business system.

The Financial Controller Opportunity

Duininck Companies is seeking a seasoned, values-aligned Financial Controller as a critical addition to the Central Services Team, adding value to the efforts of creating a financially scalable platform that’s capable of stewarding the businesses into the next generation of Duininck Family ownership. The Duininck Companies Controller will have a generational impact on the integration and clarity of our financial systems by elevating the visibility and reliability of the financial systems to enhance decision making and execution within the family office, enterprise governance, and business units of the enterprise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Financial Controller is responsible for Duininck Companies accounting operations to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The controller is also responsible for the consolidated financial reporting of the portfolio of businesses, including compliance with applicable accounting and regulatory standards and bank covenant certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 15+ years of accounting experience, preferably with multiple consolidated business units

Compensation and Benefits

Location

This is a hybrid role with an office location in Willmar, MN. The role requires periodic travel to company locations in Excelsior, MN, Prinsburg, MN or other.
