Role: Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller Location: 100% Remote Schedule: MondayFriday, aligned with ET or CT Reports to: CFO

About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to independently manage the full accounting operation and monthly close cycle. This role requires strong technical depth, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver accurate financial reporting without close supervision. Key Responsibilities

Revenue & Sales Accounting

Record and reconcile daily revenue from POS systems (Gravity, Sunstar/Datacap).

Reconcile deposits, AR, and chargebacks.

Manage deferred revenue and ensure proper revenue recognition.

Understand flows between revenue, inventory, and sales & use tax.

Sales & Use Tax (Critical)

Prepare and file multistate sales tax returns.

Manage exemption certificates.

Respond to tax notices and support audits.

Ensure correct tax treatment across all locations.

Inventory & Cost Accounting

Maintain and reconcile inventory records with Operations.

Calculate and analyze COGS.

Strengthen inventory controls and reporting.

Understand the intersection of inventory, revenue, and sales tax.

Payroll Accounting

Record payroll, bonuses, PTO, and related items.

Reconcile payroll liabilities and related rates.

Manage payrollrelated balance sheet accounts.

MonthEnd Close & Reporting

Independently execute key components of the monthly close.

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.

Support internal financial reporting packages.

Identify improvement opportunities and shorten close timelines.

Audits & Controls

Prepare schedules and support external audits.

Maintain strong internal documentation and controls.

Contribute to scalable accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Strong experience in revenue accounting, sales & use tax, inventory & cost accounting, and payroll accounting.

Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivots, reconciliations).

POS experience (Gravity, Sunstar, Datacap) is a plus.

Clear, understandable English (accent acceptable).
