About This Position

Description:

Position Summary:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will work cooperatively with Vuzix team members on the Electrical and other engineering disciplines to deliver complex circuit designs for smart glasses and head-mounted display (HMD) products. This position will also support the functions of the R&D – Electrical Department to meet the requirements of the relevant ISO 9001:2015 standards based on the quality objectives established by Top Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schematic design and PCB layout of digital circuits for smart glasses and head mounted display products.
  • Work with PCB fabrication and SMT vendors to produce finished PCBAs for prototypes.
  • Test and debug new hardware for both functional correctness and reliability criteria.
  • Produce technical documentation for requirements, testing, and validation of designs.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to develop electronics for highly constrained products.
  • Participate in cross-discipline design reviews to optimize product implementation.
  • Meets required ISO 9001:2015 standards and necessary training based on the relevant Quality Objectives.

Requirements:

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical field.
  • 6 years’ experience in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief effectively to peers and leadership.
  • Experience with hardware design from concept to implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and debugging high-speed designs.
  • Understanding of hardware / software interfaces.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g. Altium Designer, Cadence, OrCAD, etc.) for schematic and layout design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with C programming language and microprocessor development.
  • Experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Experience with soldering and board rework.
  • Experience analyzing and debugging complex hardware using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team environment through all phases of product development from initial concept to production release
  • Communicate effectively via written and spoken language; comprehends problems, urgency, and desired outcome in the absence of perfect information; shares information and ideas with others; conscientious listener.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Travel: Up to 5%, with willingness to travel to manufacturing partner locations internationally, if required.

Physical Demands: Frequently required to sit, speak, hear, see, and perform repetitive motion (data entry). Occasionally required to lift or carry (10 lb. minimum). Reasonable accommodations will be made available if applicable.

Compensation: In compliance with Pay Transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $90,000 - $150,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer may vary based on various factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
