Anticipated Schedule:

Monday 10-6:30
Tuesday 8-4:30
Wednesday 10-6:30
Thursday 8-4:30
Friday 8-4:30

Occasional evening and weekends for group and outreach.

Position Overview:

The Bereavement Coordinator functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team under the supervision of the Bereavement Supervisor to provide comprehensive bereavement care to promote emotional well-being. The Bereavement Coordinator provides compassionate support and guidance to individuals and families who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The primary responsibility of the Bereavement Coordinator will be to develop and implement bereavement services and programs to assist individuals in coping with grief and navigating the healing process.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Associate Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Behavioral Health, Child Development or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, such as 3-5 years of experience in bereavement services, grief support, hospice, palliative care, mental health, social services, or community-based programs.
  2. Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  3. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as driving is an essential function of this role. Must meet insurance eligibility requirements
  4. This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, which includes cannabis testing in Washington State.
  5. Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Safety (BLS)
  6. Training in areas of life-threatening and chronic illness, grief, and loss: possessing training in life-threatening and chronic illnesses, grief, and loss is highly beneficial. This includes an understanding of the psychological, emotional, and social aspects of these experiences.
  7. Previous experience in grief counseling or working with individuals who have experienced loss. This experience can be gained through internships, volunteer work, or employment in similar roles.
  8. Experience in the healthcare setting, hospice, home health, community care, hospital, etc.
  9. A thorough understanding of the grieving process and different coping mechanisms is crucial. Familiarity with bereavement theories, grief counseling techniques, and the psychological and emotional aspects of loss is essential.
  10. Proficient in utilizing computer systems and software for documentation and data management
  11. Ability to report to the assigned work location(s) as scheduled and maintain consistent, reliable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education, Theology, or a related field.

2. Bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.

3. Experience facilitating grief or other support groups.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $22.69/hour - $26.59/hour

Note regarding the listed pay range:

Hiring Range: The starting pay range offered to new hires, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Pay Range/Salary Range: The full pay range for this position, from minimum to maximum, based on role responsibilities and market rates.

These ranges are tailored to match the diverse programs and services we offer. Our goal is to ensure fair compensation for candidates based on these factors while maintaining internal peer equity.

· Mileage Reimbursement: $0.72 per mile, for eligible positions.

· Vacation: Accrual of hours each pay period based on hours worked.

· Continuing Education Units: Tri-Cities chaplaincy utilizes Relias Learning and CAPC for employees to earn continuing education units for their credential requirements.

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

3. Policy Compliance: Maintain knowledge of and comply with agency policies, procedures, and practices.

4. Confidentiality: Protect patient and agency information per HIPAA guidelines. Only access information on a need-to-know basis.

5. Transportation: Maintain reliable personal transportation. Maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance per state requirements.

6. Health Requirements: Satisfy state and agency health requirements by providing proof of immunization, declinations, or approved accommodations as applicable.

7. Screenings: Pass criminal background and drug screenings.

8. Physical Demands: Meet the physical and environmental requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.(see attached physical requirements)

9. Training and Orientation: Complete agency and departmental orientation and required training programs.

10. Continuing Education: Complete ongoing education, policy reviews, and training be designated deadlines.

11. Licensure and Certification: Maintain current licensure(s) and certifications(s) required for the role.

12. Language Proficiency: Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.

13. Work Availability: Be available to work as assigned or scheduled.
