Volunteers of America Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho (VOA) is seeking compassionate Medical Respite Support Staff to join our Hope House program. Hope House offers short-term, supportive care for adults experiencing homelessness who are transitioning from a hospital stay and need a safe place to recover.

Schedule Options

We are currently hiring for the following schedules:

• Saturday & Sunday | 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM - with additional hours available to make FT if desired
• Saturday through Tuesday | 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Full-time opportunities available
• Shift differential pay for overnight hours
• Flexibility with opportunities to pick up additional shifts

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support guests recovering from medical, behavioral health, or crisis-related needs
• Help maintain a calm, respectful, and trauma-informed environment
• Prepare and serve meals, as well as clean and disinfect the center
• Assist with intakes, orientation, and referrals to community resources
• Monitor safety and respond to medical or behavioral concerns professionally
• Complete shift documentation, logs, and reports accurately
• Work independently while staying connected with the care team

This Role Is a Great Fit For Individuals With Experience As:

• Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) or Home Health Aides
• Shelter, residential, or overnight support staff
• Behavioral Health Technicians or Peer Support Specialists
• Medical Assistants or hospital patient observers
• Case aides, direct care workers, direct support professionals (DSP), or social service professionals
• Crisis response, or de-escalation roles
• Individuals with lived experience and a passion for helping others

Requirements

• Eligible to apply for an Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) credential within 30 days of hire
• Willing to obtain (with VOA support): CPR/BLS, First Aid, and Food Handler’s Permit
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, steady presence
• Ability to work independently, particularly during evening or overnight hours
• Must be 21 years or older and able to pass a background check

Preferred:
Experience in homeless services, behavioral health, trauma-informed care, or peer support
